Monitoring the examinations prepared by the Teachers Subscription Council of Nigeria TRCN, the Minister of Education, Adamu, said at one of the Abuja zones that the examination was part of efforts of the Federal government towards professionalising the teaching career.

The minister who was represented by the long lasting secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sunny Echono, said the exams were intended to determine Nigerian teachers and certify those who succeed as qualified instructors.

He said the computer-based examination was an motivation of Teachers Registration Authorities of Nigeria, to ensure that teachers saddled with the responsibility of training Nigerian children have the right qualification, winning frame of mind and right skills to do the work.

The registrar of the authorities, Josiah Ajiboye, said the present government wants only those that are authorized and accredited to be allowed to practice the profession henceforth.

"Teaching is the mother of most occupations, if we get educating right we will get it right in all sectors of the economic system. No country can surge beyond the quality of its education and no education can rise above the quality of it teachers, " Mr. Ajiboye said. The registrar said test would hold 2 times yearly, precisely in May well and October.

Speaking on the result, Mr. Ajiboye said the results of the Saturday exams would be out over the following one week.
