Nigeria Police arraign some people for ‘pirating’ Nollywood movies

 On Thursday, the police arraigned five guys at the Federal excessive court in Lagos for allegedly pirating some Nollywood movies.

The pirated works consist of Jennifer’s Diary, Lord of war, The Village war, My kids and i, What I want, Osinachi my wife, among others.
They have been arrested by using the national movie and Video Censors Board on the Alaba international market in Lagos during a sting operation.
The defendants are David Chukwudi, Austin Igboukwu, Ugochukwu Ukwuagu, Uchechukwu Chukwuma and Ndu Celestine.
They were charged with eleven counts bordering on copyright infringement and use of premises to promote piracy.
Igboukwu and Ukwuagwu have been charged with thirteen counts of copyright infringement.
in the first fee, prosecuting recommend Mr okay.J Oluwole from the Police pressure Headquarters, alleged that Chukwudi devoted the offence on August 14 at the Alaba worldwide marketplace.
He turned into supposed to have forged packets of uncensored the Nollywood movies for unlawful distribution.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution said they allegedly packaged the works said to be worth millions of naira, for unlawful exhibition and distribution.
The alleged offence contravenes phase 58 of the Nigeria films and Video Censor Board Act, 2004, in addition to section 20 of the Copyright Act, Cap 28, laws of The Federation, 2004.
Justice Hassan also adjourned until December eight for trial and listening to of the bail software.
The defendants are to be remanded in jail custody till their bail software is determined, the choose ruled.
